David Walter's musical career includes 14 years with Toscanini and the NBC Symphony, 17 years with Pablo Casals, Principal bass with Fritz Reiner and the Pittsburgh, 5 years as solo bassist with the Princeton Chamber Orchestra and 30 years with the New York City Ballet Orchestra. He taught at the Manhattan School of Music for 34 years and has taught at the Juilliard School since 1969. His former students populate the major orchestras worldwide.

He performs with pianist Lise Proto Misek's Sonatas 1 and 2, Sperger's Sonata No. 1, Frescobaldi's Canzone per Basso Solo No. 1, Efram Zimbalist's Hebrew Song and Dance, Serge Lancen's Habanera and his own Prelude Hommage à Casalss.
