By Fred Bretschger
Fantasy Duo was born from jam sessions mixing classical string technique with blues riffs and spontaneous improvisation. As it took shape I became excited with the idea of a companion piece to the famous Duetto by Rossini.
The piece soon became a collision between well established baroque and classical forms, 20th century harmony and rock and roll.
There are a few optional moments where improvisation is encouraged. While there are no strict rules applying to these sections I would suggest maintaining or recovering the tempo previously established before continuing to the next passage. The piece is mostly variations on a few themes so you are welcome to come up with some of your own. You can also ignore the ad libitum and play through if you wish without harm.
The piece requires lots of energy, spirit and chops - so eat you wheaties and have fun..
