Commissioned by the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra for their Young People's and Pops Concerts, Solar Wind has become one of our most often performed pieces particularly on Young People's Concerts. A richly orchestrated Jazz/Rock score, it can be used just about anywhere in a program. It is highly recommended as a program closer on Young People's Concerts. There is a jazz solo for almost anyone in the orchestra who has the ability. Best bets would be a trumpet, trombone, saxophone or electric piano. There is also a solo for the drummer and a featured part for the percussion section. Optional cuts are suggested if the piece is needed for the shorter time segments that are sometimes found on Young People's Concerts.
