This Carmen Fantasy was written to showcase Doc Severinsen in a recording with the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra. The Telarc album Trumpet Spectaculars was in the top 10 on the Billboard charts for 28 weeks during 1990. The work is in four parts: Prelude, Aragonaise, Intermezzo and Habanera. If you have a brilliant trumpeter in your orchestra whom you would like to feature Carmen is a sure winner.

An elaborate setting of Thayer's famous poem featuring live crowd and electronic sounds (via CD) and a brilliantly orchestrated score. Ideal for a sports figure, actor or singer.

Since its premiere by the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra in 1973, Casey has become a staple on Pops Concerts throughout the U.S. and Canada.

Two commercial recordings of the work are currently available: The Cincinnati Symphony conducted by Erich Kunzel with Johnny Bench performing the narrator part, and the Philly Pops, conducted by Peter Nero, with Tug McGraw as narrator.

Special requirements: A good swinging rhythm section (piano, amplified or electric bass and drums). A strong jazz trumpet player who can improvise on the Blues. A compact disc player and a good sound system.
